Happy 49th Birthday Malaysia

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! Congratulations and happy 49th birthday to Malaysia. now evrybody’s is in Merdeka mood. if my beloved country is counted in relevance to the human’s age, that means its going thru a phase from adulthood to senior citizen. u may not be as strong or as mobile as before, but ur experience sure does help a lot. u could even have a grandchildren at this age.

so i spent my merdeka eve by hanging out wif my frens in ss3 by having bbq at alang’s house. as i was leaving my damansara’s house, i cant help but notice that the road is packed, as people from all over congregate to celebrate merdeka. im pretty sure that ikano mutiara damansara is sure jam like hell. sunway lagoon. bukit bintang. klcc. bangsar. u name it. all the hotspots will be having a blast until the wee hours of morning.

those times of hanging out at these places has long gone. i cant even recall when was the last time, i went to those places to celebrate anyting. but i still remember celebrating the millennium at BB, 1 christmas at bangsar, few new years and merdeka at klcc, kl n sunway lagoon n not forgotting 1 new year in front of masjid al-ikhlas in front of lokman’s house. i have also forgotten what i did for last year’s merdeka and this year’s new year.

guess the spirit of celebrating merdeka is not as strong as during my younger years. now when i look at other people partying and clubbing, my mind is turning the clock back few years, reminiscence of old times. how fast time flies n how i have changed thru the years.

they say, tragedy can only bring out the best of us. think of Pearl Harbour. Hiroshima. Chernobyl. September 11. Tsunami. they are all disasters. but look at what happened in the aftermath. after all the grieving and carnage has passed, evrybody unites under 1 flag. that is when we all forget about our past, about our differences, about our skin colour and work towards a common goal.

let me tell u this, if ever sumting were to happen to Malaysia, lets say war, touchwood, i wouldnt be afraid to be in the frontline. like William Wallace said in the movie Braveheart which sounded like, "Would u ever trade one chance of glory and die defending our country or would you rather die in ur sleep knowing that u could make a difference in this battlefield; right here and now". that would really have me fired up if ever my commander-in-war would to say those words.

nowadays even the concept of war is wrong. civilians being killed n targeted. its just part of a ‘collateral damage’. too many people wants to be remembered in the history books. "Why dont presidents fight the war, why do they always send the poor"? its all about making the same mistakes. guess we never learn from history.

so in the end, 1 question begs an answer. how long should i leave the Jalur Gemilang on my car? or should i wait until Encik Adom take it off for me? ;p

teaching as a profession

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

i had always wondered if i would ever venture into the field of teaching. my mom is a highly respected teacher in secondary school. from what ive heard, shes such a stern but caring type of teacher, but at home shes so cool. 1 thing i respect n i believe most of her other students would appreciate is that she can still recall most of her student’s name and faces so vividly.

can u imagine after 10-15 or maybe 20 years or more, someone still remembers ur name? gosh, i cant even recall my friends in primary school, let alone remember their names or their faces except a select few, whom i still keep in touch with. as the malay saying goes, "ke mana tumpahnya ke kuah kalau tak ke nasi". its impossible for me to follow in my dad’s footsteps and join the army because you know lah, so its only natural if i have an inclination towards teaching.

becoming a teacher or any other form of teaching, be it from a leader guiding his subordinates, a general leading out his team in battle; to the teacher’s in schools/universities is indeed a noble profession. can u imagine how proud u would become if; lets say ur student became the next prime minister or simply put became successful in life albeit becoming a doctor, an engineer or any other person for that matter. as long as wat ur teaching gives them the benefit that they can use for the rest of their lives and for good use can be considered a big achievement already.

well of course, not anyone can become a teacher. it requires a strict discipline to start with, a big passion for the job and the love of people management because in today’s world, the student can be as smart as the teacher itself or maybe even smarter. so with all this ingredients in place, it makes life of becoming a teacher much more easier. well i do have an experience of becoming a teacher as well, even though without any formal training. my students last time, range from all races from the ages of 17 up until 80 years old i guess whereby i gave them a private tutoring.

sometimes, the student is not that interested in the subject, but then the way u present the subject can play a major role in increasing the students interest n participation in learning. it also helps if u read a lot n be aware of the current situation in the world around us. all these small things adds up to the value of the teacher. n it seems, the ability to converse well in english is indeed a big asset in any profession. not just by the way of comprehension but also its grammar and vocabulary. since the advent of the internet, more new words are popping up each day. most of these new words comes from new technology, so if ur unaware of the current news, u would definitely be left behind.

In Malaysia now, the teaching profession is not held in high regards anymore. Everybody seems to opt for a career in something else, and becoming a teacher is the last resort for most. If we truly understand the cause and effect that teachers have in our lives and society, then i bet most of us would become a teacher. its true that u can learn anyting on ur own from the internet nowadays, heck u can even learn how to make a bomb from it, but then without the proper guidance from a good teacher, u could be making mistakes without u realising it. even teachers sometimes learn from other teachers; hence the ‘train the trainer’ concept.

keeping an open mind and adapting to new n proven teaching methods is also important. now its all about interaction. from the words of a child, "i see n i forget, i write n i remember, i do n i understand". plus school teachers or even university teachers have too much holidays, but then who would complaint? the work load may seems heavy, but if u love sumting so much, u wouldnt complaint but rather accepts it as a challenge.

mohd juani hj zool. nick name nak macam gangsta rapper je. tau ar amoi sunway college minat hip-hop ni suma. haha. weh ko pindah jauh ar weh, nasib umah ko best. dulu dia ni sebnarnya jiran selang 3 ke 4 rumah aku kat ss3. selalu ar aku tau apa dia ni wat kat umah, apa abang dia buat, sehingga apa nenek dia buat pun aku tau. haha. itulah namanya jiran. selalu jaga tepi kain jiran lain.

sori ar aku x dpt g abang ko nye weding last month. parents aku x g, so aku pun x g ar kot. masa kecik2 dulu aku ada byk ‘bad blood’ dgn abg ko, biasa ar time darah muda. so memandangkan famili si juani ni xde kat umah, so kitorang pun decide utk lepak ar umah dia ni. n my god, 3 lot tanah kat bangi convert menjadi sebuah rumah. 1 lot untuk garaj je (tau ar ko slalu kena kutuk sebab parking keta kat ss3 dulu bersepah, sampai kalo keta ilang pun x sedar), 1 lagi lot for the actual house n another lot for the swiming pool.

so kitorang sampai ada ar dekat 430 umah dia ni. dia bagi kitorang tour umah dia dulu. gila ar umah besar2, tapi occupant nye xde. sronok ar entiti main dlm umah dia ni. boleh main sorok2 pun xde hal nye. dah ar umah 3 tingkat, siap ada LIF lagi tu, tu yg paling x tahan. pastu common area ada cctv lagi. so nak mencurik dalam kawasan umah dia ni, kena employ professional ar. astro decoder ada 4 bijik, tv lcd 27′ ada sbijik, 29′ ada 2 bijik, 32′ ada sbijik. pastu tiap sudut kat umah dia ni ada aircond, termasuk dapur skali. tingkat bawah bilik nenek dia, bilik parents dia.

pastu kitorang pun merasa ar naik lif g tingkat 1. tingkat 1 ni ada bilik dia, bilik abang dia & wife, bilik akak dia, bilik adik dia & 1 bilik surau utk smayang. pastu naik lif lagi g tingkat atas. kononnya ni adalah loteng tapi bleh gak convert menjadi tempat utk famili diorang yg dok jauh utk tidur ke apa ke. then the real fun begins…

now to the swimming pool, the actual reason y we r here in the 1st place. dalam gak swiming pool dia ni. aku rasa yg paling rendah adalah 4 meter camtu, yg paling dalam more than 6 feet. susah gak ar nak jejak lantai dia kat ujung yg dalam tu. haha. sebnarnya aku ni x pandai brenang. so smlm ada ar dpt tips sket dari pakar2 utk blaja brenang. aku rasa ada ar 1cm/saat aku nye pergerakan dalam air tu. gerak mmg gerak, tapi slow gila. teknik aku x betul. pastu kaki aku pun x dpt naik ke blakang tinggi2.

tah brapa gelen aku tertelan air pun aku dh lost count. 2 kali aku suffer cramp smlm, mula2 kaki kiri then kaki kanan lak. then skrang bahu dgn tangan aku dh lenguh semacam ni. tapi yg bagusnya, ada luka kat tangan aku, trus baik bila berendam smlm. ada open wound, tapi bila dh berendam, dgn cepatnya sel2 tersebut menutup bahagian luka tersebut. so bleh consider sebagai medication ke ar ni, merawat luka dgn berendam dalam air?

then dlm kul 8 kitorang grak, jalan2 carik makan kat area bangi/kajang ni. ada mapley kan kan ukm tu kat shell. mula2 ingat nk g restoran yus tapi in the end, makan kat malee’s place kat stadium kajang. tringat lak aku kat naili’s place yg nak bukak cawangan kat uptown ni. cambest je. then kitorang pun beredar lah pulang. seperti malam2 yg lain, port kat saji semula tgk bola. nasib manu menang 2-1.

k ar juani. ni kena antar testi ni dalam masa tedekat. bila2 famili ko xde lagi, bleh ar ajak kitorang lepak lagi. bleh ko ajar aku berenang lagi. ajar aku float weh. x reti siut. ni kalo lemas kat laut, berdoa je lah…

AET 5993 Silver Kelisa

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Jalan tu dah lah one way, amoi ni pun dah lah lawan arus, dia pun menghala ke jalan sehala, lawan arus lagi. Yg x puas atinya, dia ni xnak mengaku salah. Aku pun rasa dia ni orang luar kot, bukan asal sini kot.

Memandangkan dia xnak setel, dia still insist kita bayar damage keta dia, maka kena ar wat polis repot. Alahai amoi… Benda kecik je. Nanti x pasal2, u kena saman rm300 lagi. Sebnarnya, jalan belakang giant lama ni, memang x berapa proper sgt signage dia. Melainkan kalo ko dah biasa jalan kat situ, ko tau ar kot jalan ni one way ke, no entry ke apa ke. Pastu Sarjan Mohamed dari Ibu Pejabat Polis Trafik Petaling Jaya (dekat PJ State) pun turun ar kat tempat kejadian. Dia amek gambar kejadian apa suma. Kebetulan lak, time tu, memang ada sbijik keta yg lawan arus lagi kat jalan tu. Haha. Cuak ar tu tgk Sarjan ni.

Memang macam2 benda pasal keta bulan ogos ni. Mula2 renew road tax dgn insurans, ~rm400, pastu keta masuk bengkel, ~rm1200, pastu eksiden ni lak. Ada hikmah kot kejadian ni berlaku. Memang kita x minta, tapi maybe tuhan nak uji kita sebnarnya.

So apa lagi ar aku wat wiken ni? Malam semalam, g kenduri kawin abang Fid, Isa kat Dewan Kompleks Kebudayaan Shah Alam. Makan bleh tahan gak, daging dia sedap gila. Tapi yg paling xleh handle, sabtu malam masa lepak umah Ed tgk balik rakaman karaoke kitorang. Lawak gila sial. Walaupun time tu dah ~3 pagi, tapi gelak x cover nye. Mau Syed Bahadzor turun dari bilik dia maki kitorang wat bising tgh malam. Hehe. Sedap gak aku nyanyi lagu ‘Cinta x kenal siapa’.

So cuti skolah ni, xde apa2 lak plan. Keje je ar. Pastu ingat merdeka nk g selebret ar kat mana2. Jumaat lepas merdeka tu ingat nak cuti, jalan2 ke naik genting ke. Lama siut x naik. Last skali masa dgn awek DAC rasanya, Julai 2003 kot. X sabar nak naik Space Shot lagi ar. Dia nye feeling tu, mak ai sedap gila. Rasa cam tertinggal je jantung kat atas, masa dia stat turun naik tu. Ada rumours kata, ada orang mati naik ride tu. X tau ar. Semoga tecapai cita2 nak g jalan2 cuti nanti. Grak PD wat bbq pun cambest je. Hoho.

Budak Peot

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Haha. Full name dia, Noor Alia Nabila. Spelling sampai skarang aku musykil camana nak eja. Umur dia ni dah cecah 2 bulan lebih. Mula2 aku panggil dia, Budak Kecik. Tapi pastu, mak aku stat panggil dia Budak Peot, maka kitorang pun panggil ar dia ni, Budak Peot.

Cute gak ar Budak Peot ni. Putih. Pastu rambut curly-wurly, cam aku gak masa kecik2 dulu. Tu pun sebab expose byk kat outdoor kot. Beza gila kaler tangan aku dgn kaki aku. Ni yang kena pakai skin whitener. Haha.

So semalam kitorang g makan kat aji don alley, hartamas ramai2, except along aku dgn wife dia. Ok je dia ni. Xde ngamuk2 pun. Senyap je. Dia dah pandai main sorang2.

Biasa ar, anak/cucu pompuan ni, biasanya sayang dia lebih. Aku pun sayang gak kat Alia ni. Dulu2 segan campur cuak nak carry dia, nak pegang dia, nak belai dia, sebab maklumlah aku anak bongsu, n ni lah 1st dapat anak buah.

So until that day comes, kenalah tahan dengan perangai babies yg suka menangis. Lapar nangis, ngantuk nangis, bosan nangis. Waduh2…

Mana titah, patik junjung!

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

Tiada niat langsung untuk menjatuhkan mana2 pihak, kerana sesebuah perjuangan, is not because of one individual, but for a greater cause. Leaders come n go, but the cause remains the same n is relevant throught all of time.

Wedding ‘Dak Man’

Friday, August 11th, 2006

weh, alang pinjam pc ko jap weh. keje nak tido je. haha. cepat weh, kata nak jumpa Tun sket lagi kat tropicana.

anyway, semalam kazen aku selamat bernikah dgn iskandar abdul, orang jerman yang baru je masuk islam. nama asal dia alex something. hoho. tinggi gila siut. dah ar ensem. akad nikah pun dalam bahasa english. hantaran pun 2000 paun. kalo convert, mau jadi ~rm14000.

mix marriage ni memang best, kalo dapat anak mesti cute nye, rambut blonde mata biru ke hijau. tapi couple tersebut mestilah ada tolerance yg tinggi. dah ar bahasa berbeza, culture lain, makanan lain, perayaan lain apa suma.

dah ar struggle semalam aku nak attend wedding diorang ni. patut kena ada sana kul 6, tapi memandangkan keta bapak aku rosak, maka diorang pakai keta aku, lagi2 aku ada keje kat klang whole day semalam. i end up getting home at 730pm. mandi nye mandi, bersiap apa suma kul 8. pastu tunggu teksi 1/2 jam, last2 sampai ada kat kul 845. ingat dh lmbt ar, tapi sampai2 je, diorang baru slmt bernikah.

tapi ‘Dak Man’ nye sedara/member memang cute2 dan hensem2 la. masing2 muka macam Michael Ballack, Lukas Podolski, Claudia Schiffer suma. rambut blonde, mata kaler2 suma. memang marvellous ar mat saleh ni. tapi diorang pun tepikat kat gadis2 asia ni, sebab kulit kita tan. biasa ar, orang pun cakap ‘opposites attract’.

so k ar. aku pun nak grak g tropicana satgi, jumpa idola aku Tun Mahathir. alang pun baru grak g mandi. thanx weh bagi pinjam pc. haha.

Life is full of surprises… Dont ever think that because ur doing the same things over n over again, ur working the same job 9 to 5, sleeping on the same bed evry nite, waking up seeing the same faces all over again, eating at the same place evry time, shopping at the same place, lepaking at saji evry other nite; that life is a cycle that repeats itself. What we do know is that, new-born became adults, who then dies; n replaced by more newborns.

Wateva u do, dont ever take things for granted. Dont ever try to ‘fast-forward’ ur life. Dont take lightly ur fren next to u, whos making u laugh, dont ever take lightly of ur parents, who care for u , who dont think bout anyting else other than wanting u to succeed in life, dont ever take for granted ur loved ones, who make u happy, make u sad, make u laugh, make u cry.

We only get to live this life once. So live it the best we possibly could. We sure cant run away from mistakes, but then we can only learn from then. That is why human is chosen ahead of other beings to govern this world. Experience makes us wiser, but that doesnt mean we can make easier choices. Wateva itis, take it 1 day at a time. As time goes by, we could feel that the days are over pretty quickly. Soon were gonna celebrate Merdeka, then Puasa, then DeepaRaya, then New Year, then Chinese New Year. Same old story for all of us. Even Puasa & Raya for me, is nothing nowadays it seems.

Time wont stop for anyone of us. Time is always 24 hours a day; it always has n it will always be. N like they always say; "Time waits for no man". So with the same hours we all lived evryday, we always had choices to make. Some choices will disappoint others while keeping others happy. Some will earn us more respect from sum1, some will make us closer to each other, some will make others hate u. More choices to be made. Some choices are easy, some are difficult, some are automatically decided for us, some are even forced upon us.

We all wish that life wont be so complicated. But that is the beauty of life. Full of diversity, full of cause n effect. If we had known all along, what are the things were gonna do n say, what clothes were gonna wear, what are the choices were gonna make, what food were gonna eat, what shows were gonna watch, then life will always be the same forever for all of us. It is all up to us, how were gonna live our life. U may need some guidance n advice along the way. U may need a shoulder to cry on, a friend who is gonna listen to all ur ramblings, but at the end of the day, it is ultimately up to u to run ur own life n write ur own script.

So as i end my line here, hope u all gonna watch the movie ‘Click’, starring Adam Sandler n enjoy the show about making choices n not taking evryday mundane life for granted. There are no right or wrong choices; hey, its ur life anyway. So make ur easiest choice at the moment. Go see the movie. :p

1337’s BBQ, 5/8/06

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

Another week, another BBQ session; organised by ‘arj’ in Sg. Penchala; which is very near my house, only 2 traffic lights away. This time itis made of mostly (if not all) lowyat.net members. As usual, im among the 1st few guests to arrive. 630 pm to be exact. Me, ‘acedriver’, ‘rad’ & ‘yott’. Aiman’s place is quite secluded, even DHL & the Pizza/McD delivery guys dont seem to be able to find his place. Maya Karin is also staying nearby, which if we had invited her, later scared she become a pontianak to haunt us all. But i dont mind, if a pontianak is that beautiful. I would freely become her victim anytime.

1 of the reason, we came there early is to play his XBOX 360. With 26′ HDTV LCD widescreen, KEF speakers & god knows what else, itis a truly pure gaming experience. Tears can indeed flow if u play with this gaming setup. Among the games we played were "Fight Night Round 3" & "Dead or Alive 4". Then at around 8pm, the bbq kick-off, & the crowd begin to swell.

There were plenty of grubs for evry1. Sausages, burgers, chickens etc, all the usual stuffs are there; coupled with loafs of bread, corns & soft drinks. This time, im relaxing abit, no more doing the cooking like last time. The duty of preparing or rather burning of the food is done by our lady chefs, "yott" & "smoochie". I lost count of how many plates i had. It must have been alot i guess.

Actually, there were 2 groups of people that nite. Like ‘pokju’ said, 1 group is the Battlefield 2 members; playing original games with original cd-keys (the rich boys). Not unlike us from the Malay side, the non-ori guys & gals who prefers to download stuffs for free n torrent/p2p/puretna is our middle name. There were probably around 30 of us, sharing the Aiman’s backyard which has a pond & huge garden. Lucky it wasnt raining, if not we all had to order pizza.

Then around 10pm, when all of us are full, its back to his house watching AF4 final & playing with his lightsaber. His lightsaber is a replica of Darth Maul, that u can see from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace; a double-sided quarter staff-like. It sure is heavy n very long indeed, what with the sounds like a real lightsaber. AF4 Final, as u can expect is won by Faizal of Terengganu. No big surprise there. But we all can say that, this season’s AF is not as huge or successful like AF3, where Mawi practically became a cash cow for astro.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. I think we hang around until 12 something, before we bid farewell. It shows that even 1337’s know how to have a good time. To all the guys & girls, ‘acedriver’, ‘rad’, ‘yott’, ’smoochie’, ‘pokju’, ‘black’, ‘uzu’, ‘igor’, ’steno’, ‘phibe’, ‘ayiesz’, ’state’, ‘roy’, ’shinno’ & the rest; i which u all the best. N to ‘arj’, thanx for being the host again, n happy belated birthday.
